Worksheet orders: getting the material list right

What a worksheet order is, why it helps when ordering roofing and siding materials, and what goes into one.

By Faecon Estimates ·

Once the scope is set, materials have to be ordered. A worksheet order turns the scope into a clear list you can send to your supplier, so you can get the right materials and a price without rebuilding the list yourself.

What is a worksheet order?

A worksheet order is a material list for a specific project, such as a roof replacement or a siding job. It sets out what needs to be ordered so your local supplier can quote and fill the order.

Why it helps

  • Fewer ordering mistakes. A written list is easier to check than a phone call.
  • Easier price comparison. The same worksheet can go to more than one supplier.
  • Less time in the office. Your team doesn’t have to rebuild the list from the estimate.

What you need to provide

  • The estimate or measurements for the roof or siding
  • Preferred materials, brands or colours, if already decided
  • Anything the supplier should know, such as delivery details
